Day to Day Itinerary

Hotel Pickup in Delhi & Transfer to the Train Station +

Your day begins with a private pickup from your hotel, home, or Delhi Airport in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle.

Our professional driver will arrive on time, help with your bags, and take you directly to the correct departure station (Hazrat Nizamuddin for Gatimaan, or New Delhi Station for Vande Bharat and Shatabdi).

Our team will meet you at the station entrance, handle the boarding process, and make sure you find your correct seat without stress.

You do not need to figure out platforms, ticket counters, or crowds — we handle it all.

Tip: Carry a small daypack with your passport (foreigners must carry original ID), water, sunscreen, and a light jacket for the train’s air conditioning.

Scenic Train Ride from Delhi to Agra with Breakfast On Board +

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey through the North Indian countryside.

The train ride itself is a memorable part of the experience — watch the landscape change as you leave the city behind and move through small towns and open farmland.

A freshly prepared, sealed breakfast is served on board the Gatimaan Express as part of your package. Arrive at Agra Cantt (Agra Cantonment Station), Agra’s main railway station.

Arrival at Agra Cantonment Railway Station and meeting with your guide. +

The moment your train pulls in, our local guide will be waiting for you on the platform — you do not need to search for anyone in the station.

They will greet you by name, escort you to your private vehicle, and give you a quick overview of the day’s plan.

There is no confusion, no waiting, and no dealing with the many touts and porters at the station exit. If anyone at the station tries to carry your bags or offer services, you can politely say ‘No, thank you’ — our team will handle everything.

Taj Mahal Sightseeing +

Your guide will take you to the Taj Mahal (“Crown of the Palace”), one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Your entry ticket covers full access to the entire complex — the main mausoleum building, the mosque (Masjid), the guest house, the reflecting pool, and the surrounding gardens (called the Charbagh, meaning “Four Gardens”).

Your guide will explain the remarkable architecture, the Persian-inspired garden layout, the detailed marble inlay work (called Pietra Dura), and the fascinating history behind its construction. We will also point out the very best spots for photographs at different times of day.

Tip: The golf cart from the parking area to the monument gate is included in your package — no long walk in the sun.

Agra Fort Sightseeing +

Next, visit Agra Fort — also called Lal Qila (“Red Fort”) — a massive 16th-century fortress built from red sandstone by Emperor Akbar and later used by Shah Jahan as a palace and, in his final years, as his prison.

Walk through royal audience halls, marble palaces, and open courtyards while your guide shares stories of the Mughal emperors who once ruled here.

From a specific spot inside the fort, you will get a breathtaking distant view of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River — one of the most memorable photographs of the entire trip.

Buffet Lunch at a Local Agra Restaurant +

Enjoy a relaxed buffet lunch at a carefully selected, well-reviewed Agra restaurant. The buffet features a wide spread of authentic North Indian dishes — including slow-cooked lentils (dal makhani), cottage cheese curries (paneer dishes), freshly baked bread (naan), rice dishes, and seasonal vegetables — alongside lighter international options.

The restaurant is fully air-conditioned, clean, and chosen specifically for the quality of its food and service. Buffet lunch is included in your package.

Tip: If you have any dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free), let us know in advance, and we will confirm the right options are available.

Baby Taj Sightseeing +

Visit Itimad-ud-Daulah, affectionately known as the Baby Taj — a smaller but exquisitely detailed tomb built entirely of white marble with beautiful colored stone inlay work.

Many historians consider this monument to be the creative forerunner of the Taj Mahal, as it was the first Mughal structure built entirely of marble.

It sits along the Yamuna River in a peaceful garden setting, far less crowded than the Taj Mahal, giving you a more relaxed and intimate sightseeing experience. This is also an excellent photography stop.

Return Train from Agra to Delhi +

After a full day of sightseeing, our team will escort you back to Agra Cantt station in time for your return train to Delhi. You will travel back in the same level of comfort as your morning journey.

Relax in your seat, review your photos, and enjoy the evening light over the Indian countryside as the train heads back to the capital.

Drop-Off at Your Hotel or Airport in Delhi +

On arrival back in Delhi, your driver will be waiting at the station to take you directly to your hotel, residence, or Delhi Airport. Your day ends at your doorstep — no taxis to find, no apps to navigate.

Helpful Tips Before You Travel

  • Book train tickets at least 30 days in advance — the Gatimaan Express fills up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday — plan your trip for any other day of the week.
  • Wear comfortable, flat walking shoes — you will do a fair amount of walking inside the monuments.
  • Power banks are allowed inside the Taj Mahal complex; large bags (over 16 inches / 40 cm) are not — leave big bags in the vehicle.
  • Photography with a regular camera or phone is free; professional cameras with detachable lenses may require a small fee at the gate.
  • Apply sunscreen before entering the Taj Mahal — the white marble reflects intense sunlight.
  • If you want to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise (a magical experience), let us know — we can plan an earlier departure from Delhi.
  • Non-Hindu visitors may enter all monuments; no specific dress code is required, but covering shoulders is respectful.

What our customers say

Most Asked Questions by our Guests.

Which train should I actually take? +

We recommend the Gatimaan Express for the fastest journey and best overall experience — it is India’s quickest train on this route and includes a meal on board. However, if the Gatimaan is fully booked on your date, the Vande Bharat Express is our next recommendation for its modern comfort and daily availability. The Shatabdi Express is a great third option and is highly reliable. We will advise you on the best available option when you book, and we handle all ticketing — you do not need to visit any booking website yourself.

Should I book a tour package or plan the trip myself (DIY)? +

Booking with us is far simpler and more cost-effective than going it alone, especially as a visitor unfamiliar with India. Getting foreign-quota train tickets, arranging transportation in Agra, finding a trustworthy guide at the station, and navigating three monuments in one day without local knowledge is genuinely stressful. Our package removes every logistical headache — we handle bookings, coordination, pickups, and timing — so you can focus entirely on enjoying the experience.

Is it possible to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise if I take the train? +

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal is spectacular — the white marble turns a warm pink and gold, and the crowds are much smaller than later in the day. By default, the superfast trains depart in the morning and arrive after sunrise. However, if you specifically want a sunrise visit, please tell us when booking, and we will arrange an early departure plan from Delhi with road transfer to arrive at the Taj Mahal gates right at opening time (6:00 AM). We are happy to customize the itinerary for you.

What else can I fit into one day besides the Taj Mahal? +

In a single day, we comfortably cover the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort (Lal Qila), and the Baby Taj (Itimad-ud-Daulah). If you would like to add Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden) — a peaceful riverside garden with a stunning, crowd-free view of the Taj Mahal directly across the Yamuna River — this is available as an optional add-on for a small extra entry fee. Just let your guide know your interests, and we will build the day around you.

Can I bring my bag or power bank into the Taj Mahal? +

Power banks and small personal bags (smaller than approximately 16 inches / 40 cm) are allowed inside. Large bags, tripods, selfie sticks (with a stick), food, tobacco, and any sharp objects are not permitted inside the complex. Our guide will store larger bags securely in the vehicle for you, so you only take what you need inside. There are free cloak rooms at the Taj Mahal entrance if needed.

How does a foreign visitor book train tickets without an Indian phone number? +

We handle the entire booking process for you — you do not need an Indian SIM card, an IRCTC account (India’s rail booking system), or any OTP (one-time password) verification. Booking Indian trains as a foreigner independently can be technically complicated. We purchase your tickets directly and send you the booking confirmation. Simply show up, and we take it from there.

Is the food served on the Gatimaan Express safe to eat? +

Yes. The Gatimaan Express meal is prepared in a certified kitchen, individually sealed and packaged, and delivered fresh on board. It is one of the better quality train meals in India and is generally safe for international visitors. If you have a sensitive stomach or strong dietary preferences, you are welcome to carry your own snacks as a backup. Your guide can also recommend an excellent lunch restaurant in Agra.

Is this trip safe for solo female travelers? +

Yes, absolutely. Thousands of solo female travelers take this tour every year and have a safe, enjoyable experience. Our team includes professional, verified guides and drivers, and, for added comfort, we also offer a female tour guide upon request. You’ll have a dedicated point of contact throughout the day, along with access to our 24/7 support line. Agra’s main tourist areas are well-policed and generally safe for visitors. As always, we recommend keeping your valuables secure and following your guide’s advice in busy areas.

Will someone actually meet me inside the train station? +

Yes. On departure from Delhi, our team member will meet you at the station entrance, walk with you to the correct platform, and ensure you board the right train and find your seat. In Agra, your local guide will be waiting on the platform itself — holding a name card for you — the moment your train arrives. You will never be left searching for someone in a busy station.

Is the Mausoleum (the main building) ticket included, or just the outer gardens? +

The full Taj Mahal complex ticket is included — this covers entry to the outer gardens, the mosque, the guest house, AND the main mausoleum building where Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal are entombed. Some budget operators only include the basic garden ticket. We include the complete experience so you do not miss the most important part of the monument.

What happens to my luggage while I am sightseeing? +

Your bags remain securely locked in your private vehicle throughout the day. Our driver stays with the vehicle at all times. You only carry a small daypack inside the monuments. For very large luggage (like big suitcases), we can arrange safe, complimentary storage at your Delhi hotel before departure — just let us know.

What if the train is delayed, or my OTP does not work for booking? +

Train delays do occasionally happen on any railway network. If there is a delay, your guide is already with you and will simply adjust the day’s order of visits to make the most of the time available. For train tickets, because we handle all bookings on your behalf, you are completely insulated from OTP issues, website failures, or IRCTC login problems. Everything is confirmed and sent to you before your travel date.

What items are strictly banned from the Taj Mahal complex? +

The Taj Mahal has a strict list of prohibited items: food and drinks (except sealed water), tobacco and cigarettes, tripods, selfie sticks with extended poles, large bags (over approx. 16 inches / 40 cm), earphones, pocket knives, lighters, and any remotely controlled devices. Standard phones, cameras, and small personal bags are fine. Your guide will remind you at the gate and will help you leave anything that is not allowed safely in the vehicle beforehand.

Why book with a tour operator instead of going solo? +

India’s train booking system (IRCTC) requires Indian verification documents and phone numbers for foreigners, making DIY booking genuinely complicated. Without a local guide, navigating three major monuments, local transportation, restaurant selection, and station logistics in a single day is exhausting and can waste time. Our package gives you a stress-free, enriched experience at a price that is genuinely competitive when you add up the individual costs of everything we include.

How do I find my driver at the crowded Agra Cantt station? +

You do not have to find anyone — your guide will find you. They will be waiting on the arrival platform holding a name sign before your train even stops. They know which train you are on and which car/coach you are in. Simply walk out and look for your name. Our guides are experienced, punctual, and dressed professionally so they are easy to spot.

How do I handle porters at the train station? +

India’s train stations have porters (called coolies) who will offer to carry your luggage — some quite persistently. Because our guide and driver meet you directly at the train, you do not need any porter assistance. A polite but firm ‘No, thank you’ is all that is needed. If you do use an unofficial porter without pre-agreeing on a price, disputes can arise. Just stay with our team and you will have no issues.

Do I have to walk a long distance from the parking lot to the Taj Mahal entrance? +

No. Our package includes the cost of the electric battery bus (also called a golf cart) that takes you from the designated parking area directly to the Taj Mahal gate. Our guide knows exactly which queue to join and where to stand to board quickly, bypassing the disorganized general crowd. You arrive at the entrance refreshed and ready for photos rather than tired from a long walk.

Are there clean restrooms available during the tour? +

Yes. Clean restrooms are available at all three monument sites, and your guide knows exactly where the best-maintained facilities are located at each stop. The restaurant where you have lunch also has clean restrooms. If you ever need a restroom stop while in the vehicle, just let your guide know — this is a private tour and there is no fixed rush.

Will my guide help me take photos, or do I need a professional photographer? +

Your guide is an experienced photographer’s companion — they know every great angle, every hidden frame, and the exact light at different times of day. They will happily take photos on your phone or camera throughout the day and will point out spots most visitors walk past without noticing. If you want professional photography (with a DSLR and editing included), we can arrange a professional travel photographer as an optional add-on — just ask when booking.

Where will we have lunch, and is the food safe? +

Buffet lunch is included in your package and is served at a carefully selected, well-reviewed local Agra restaurant. The buffet offers a wide variety of authentic North Indian dishes alongside lighter international options, and the restaurant is fully air-conditioned with clean facilities. We specifically avoid tourist-trap restaurants. If you have any food allergies or dietary requirements, please tell us in advance, and we will confirm the right options are available for you.

What if we get stuck in Agra traffic before my return train? +

Traffic management is one of the most important parts of our guide’s job. We plan the day’s schedule with traffic buffers already built in, and your guide monitors timing throughout the day. Agra’s traffic is heaviest near the Taj Mahal area at midday, and we route around known bottlenecks. In the very unlikely event of an unexpected traffic situation, we have contingency plans — including rerouting and, if necessary, coordinating a later return train — and our 24/7 support team handles any changes so you never miss your connection home.
